Loeb tested a Citroen WTCC race car

Sebastien Loeb recently tested a prototype race car in Valencia based on the Citroen DS3 WRC he drove when he won his last two of nine rally championship titles. The races in the WRC World Rally Championship, like the WTCC racing cars, are powered by 1.6-liter turbo engines, what the purpose of testing remains remains a mystery, but it was probably related to Citroen's desire to enter the WTCC World Touring Car Championship. In doing so, the French depend on external sources of funding, and their future in motorsport is also questionable.

Citroen has not revealed what model of car they would compete in the WTCC series this year. One option is the DS4 car, as sources report that the prototype DS3 did not perform best. The engine is supposed to cause the most headaches, as well as the suspension. It is because of these problems and the approaching start of the season that it is more likely that Citroen will make its debut in the touring car championship only next season, if at all.
