This year's GHD Gorjanci will be remembered not only for the beautiful weather and excellent organization, but also for the fact that the horror was provided by the first favorites of the race, Italian Federico Liber (Gloria Formula C8F) and Czech Vaclav Janik (Norma M20FC). after two runs separated only by a good second.
After yesterday's whimsical weather and the cancellation of the last training session, the weather was favorable for the racers today, as the race on Gorjanci took place in beautiful sunny weather. A good number of spectators gathered along the track. In the end, Federico Liber was more successful, celebrating for the third time in Gorjanci! Apparently, he is destined to win in odd years, as he also won in 2013 and 2015. In the second run, he also set the fastest time of 01: 39.467 and, as the only one, fell below the magic limit of 1:40. Its average speed was an incredible 155,64 km / h.
In the FIA European Championship of vintage vehicles, the Italian Uberto Bonucci (Osella PA9 / 90) convincingly won in front of the Austrian Gerald Glinzer (Porsche 911 Carrera) and the Czech Jiri Kubičko (Škoda 130RS).
Milan Bubnič (Lancia Delta HF) was the best of the Slovenes in the general classification, in 12th place, which further increased the lead in the overall classification of the national championship of the Republic of Slovenia. Peter Marc (Mitsubishi Lancer IX) took second place and thus consolidated his second place overall. The third was the favorite of the Novo mesto audience Matej Grudnik (Renault Clio 4).
GHD Gorjanci served with a strong and numerous cast. The racers showed a lot of daring rides and also impressed the FIA observers, who assessed whether GHD Gorjanci is able to organize a race of the highest rank in the future, the FIA European Championship in mountain speed racing.
