Lewis Hamilton said after the race for the Monaco Grand Prix that he was happy to have managed to limit the damage with second place. When he couldn't pass the German in the first corner at the beginning of the race, Hamilton was left with no ideas on how to break through in front of his teammate throughout the race. However, when he was tempted by dirt under the visor towards the end of the race, he had to focus on defending himself against Red Bull's Daniel Ricciard.

"It's a good day behind us. I am pleased that we managed to catch another double victory, ”said a visibly upset Hamilton. “I felt very strong, but it is very difficult to overtake here. Fortunately, I didn't make any mistakes, ”he added in an otherwise very sparse conversation after the race.

The 2008 season champion is now four points behind Rosberg after six races.
