Charles Leclerc won the best starting position before the race in Melbourne with a time of 1: 17.868. With this, Monačan gave Ferrari the first best starting position in Australia in fifteen years. Max Verstappen will start the race with him from the first starting line. The second starting line-up was occupied by Sergio Perez and Lando Norris.

Lewis Hamilton placed fifth in front of teammate George Russell. Daniel Ricciardo will start the race from seventh place ahead of Pierre Gasly and Carlos Sainz.
