Charles Leclerc admitted that he drove poorly in qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix, and that there was a misunderstanding with teammate Carlos Sainz.

The Monaco native will start the race from seventh place after finishing 0.637 seconds behind Max Verstappen's time, while Sainz managed to move up a place.

"In Q1 and Q2 I just didn't catch the rhythm. I didn't drive well. I didn't manage to make the lap, so it's my own fault," said Leclerc. "I did better in Q3, I had confidence in the car and managed to catch the rhythm, but unfortunately I don't know what happened in the second attempt, obviously there was a misunderstanding with Carlos, because I found myself behind him throughout the sector, which was not the best.”

The winner of last year's race in Australia said that Ferrari's racing car is no worse than in Saudi Arabia, so he expects to be able to keep up with rivals Mercedes and Aston Martin in the race.
