Jari-Matti Latvala is the winner of the Swedish Rally, and with the victory, the Finn also took the lead in scoring the World Championship.

The Volkswagen racer achieved the second victory for this team with an advantage of 53.6 seconds, and on the podium he was accompanied in the second place by Andreas Mikkelsen, while the third place was won by the Norwegian Mads Ostberg with Citroen.

For Mikkelsen, these are the first podiums in the World Rally Championship, and for a while he even smiled at a possible win until he slipped into a snow wall this morning and lost twenty seconds.

Current world champion Sebastien Ogier picked himself up after Friday’s crash and finished in sixth place.

"This is my third victory in this rally, and I have never won the same rally three times in my career," Latvala said after the victory. “Winning here is something very, very special. A lot of time has passed since my last victory, which I achieved last year in Greece. It was a tactical victory there, but there is a need to press here and this success gives me the confidence to be able to win other fast rallies as well. I really needed a good result here, ”added Latvala.

"It's really fantastic," said Mikkelsen, who managed to get closer to Latvali just 3.6 seconds before the mistake. “I was hoping for such a result here on home soil, where I am accompanied by all my friends and family. Second place is more than you could dream of. We may have been fighting for victory this morning, but I made a mistake, and then I had to keep Ostberg behind me. ”
