Kimi Raikkonen, who suffered severe back pain during a race weekend in Singapore, is confident that he will be fully prepared and without problems by the next race in Korea.
The Lotus racer still had the most problems in the last free practice and in the qualifications, but in the race he managed to forget about the pain and gained another place on the podium.
“We’ll see how it goes with my back, but I think everything should be fine in Korea so we can try to put together a better weekend,” the Finn said after the thirteenth race for this year’s World Championships. “I didn’t feel as much pain during the race as I did after it. Especially on Saturday it was very severe. I would almost cancel the performance so we can be very happy with the third place in the end, but at the same time I hope to solve these problems by the next race.
The problems do not appear for the first time, but for quite some time. After the end of the season, I still have some work to do, ”explained Finec.
Well, that Iceman just isn’t that icy, Kimi showed by answering the question of whether the race in Singapore was the most painful for him in his career. “I was in pain on Saturday, but I have certainly already experienced more painful weekends when something broke, and it is not necessarily a physical pain. There is also the pain you feel when you don't finish a race, ”replied the 2007 world champion.
That the Lotus racer will be completely ready for the race in Korea was also confirmed by his personal trainer Mark Arnall, who added that surgery will not be necessary. “Kimi will be in perfect shape in Korea again next week,” Arnall told Finland’s Turun Sanomat.
