According to Italian colleagues at GPone, Honda is working hard to lure Joan Mira to its MotoGP team. The Spaniard became the world champion with Suzuki in 2020, but last year he won third place in the overall standings due to the reduced development of the motorcycle.

Carlo Pernat, a commentator on GPone.com, says Mir could sign a contract with Honda for 2023 before the start of this season, when the first star of the Japanese team, Marc Marquez, will probably miss winter testing again due to an optic nerve injury.

"Honda wants to bring the winning racer to the team with all its might," says Pernat. “Fabio Quartararo and Joan Mir are on the wish list, but Mir will most likely get the place, as it costs less and is right for the job. An agreement will be reached very soon, I believe before the start of the season, or soon after, "added the Italian.
