The Canadian controlled virtually the entire race as he started from the best position, losing the lead only during stops and finally winning easily ahead of Wittmann and Glock. Somewhere in the middle of the race, it pointed to the sensational victory of former Formula One racer Tim Glock (this was only his third race in the DTM series), but in the end he won "only" third place. Namely, Glock chose softer tires during the stops and broke through from the eleventh place just behind the end of the second Wittmann, as the front left tire was tightened for too long at the second stop.

Audi’s honor was saved by fourth place Rockenfeller, followed by Mattias Ekstrom. Rockenfeller fought most of the race with Dirk Wener, who ended up in eighth place behind Vietrois and sixth in Farfus. Paffett and Wehrlein were among the top ten. Mortar grabbed second place at the start, but despite losing to Wittmann, he showed good form for the podium for the winners to the trouble and injury of Rosberg’s Audi.

Mention should also be made of the close encounter between Juncadell and Green, who collided in the second round and spun in the process. Joey Hand finished the race due to a fallen front left tire from his BMW, and in the twenty-ninth lap Martin Tomczyk also resigned when he was overtaken by Paffett, giving him a two-second penalty stop in the pits.
