Slovenian national rally champion Aleks Humar will take part in his first rally in Italy this weekend. In the competition of 118 crews, including 16 WRC race cars and a whole bunch of top two-wheel drive direct competitors, Humar is waiting for a fight with Italian corners, high temperatures and long speed trials.

Humar and co-driver Florjan Rus at the Casentino Rally as the leading crew in the Mitropa International Cup. For Slovenian national champion Aleks Humar and his co-driver Florjan Rus, however, this will be the first contact this year with the Italian competition, to which they gave the greatest importance before the season. But when they missed the inaugural rally of the season with the preparation of the car and their unpreparedness prevented them from participating in the San Remo rally, this year's competition plans for the Slovenian crew changed considerably.

"In the Italian version of the new Renault Clio R3T Cup, we were left without a chance to top, so we are somewhat unexpectedly leading in the overall classification of the Mitropa Cup. Because of this cup, she also went to the Casentino Rally, where the competition in this cup will be stronger this time than in some previous races. In the fight against four-wheel drive cars, hard work awaits us. After the first speed trials, we will see where we can qualify in the Mitropa Cup as well as comparable racing cars in Italian competition, "says Humar, who will start in the heart of 15 WRC and Renault Clio races with the starting number 16, where the former European champion leads. Luca Rossetti. A total of 118 crews registered for the rally.

Humar and Rus will have their first short speed test on Friday night in Bibbiena, and the other eight speed tests will be held on Saturday. They will not go to the last almost 37 kilometers until around 22 pm. The total length of the speed trials is 140,8 kilometers, all on asphalt.

"I don't know the rally, but it's still a bit faster than the Italian rally on average. So the roads are not so extremely winding. In any case, Florjan and I have a hard time ahead of us, as the predicted temperatures are even close to 40 degrees Celsius, so it will be even hotter in the car than at the recent rally in Železniki, and even longer speed trials will add to that. The longest of these will be the night one, which we will probably not be able to transport in the dark on the census. At least choosing tires will probably be pretty easy. At such temperatures and Italian asphalt, we will install the hardest available mixture of tires on the clio and we will probably wear them to the wire, ”adds Humar.
