The RNF Aprilia team called on the commissioners of the FIM federation to take stricter measures against reckless moves, such as, in their opinion, the move of Spaniard Marc Marquez, who collided with their rider Miguel Oliveira at the Portuguese Grand Prix.

Oliveira did not suffer any fractures in the collision, but he will still miss the Argentine Grand Prix, and Marquez, who broke his right thumb in the accident, will also miss the race at Termas de Rio Hondo. The commissioners issued the Honda driver a penalty of two extended laps for the next race, initially for the race in Argentina, but later they gave an additional explanation that the penalty would not be carried over to the next race in which he will compete.

The commissioners' decision was followed by a press release from the RNF Aprilia camp, where they called on the championship management to take stricter measures in such incidents, which will serve as an example for the lower classes of Moto2 and Moto3.

On the other hand, the Repsol Honda team filed an appeal against the imposed penalty, or more precisely, the fact that the imposed measure of the penalty was changed two days after the sentence in the race in Argentina, which, according to the team, "is not in accordance with the current rules."
