It is no secret that Ferrari received a veto on changes to the rules in exchange for signing the Concorde contract a few years ago. Later, information leaked to the public that the team from Maranello at the end of the season for their place in the construction championship gets more money than others, and finally the president of the Italian carmaker revealed that they have a lot of power in deciding who will be the new boss formula one, when the reins of the fastest circus will be released by Bernie Ecclestone.

The 83-year-old Briton wants Formula One to be led by current Red Bull boss Christian Horner in the future, but Di Montezemolo disagrees.

According to many, the fact that Ferrari has such power is very unfair, and Damon Hill believes that there are good reasons for such a situation.

“Ferrari has always been an exception in this sport and there are quite a few good reasons for that,” Hill said. "Personally, I don't know how one of the competitors can have a special status in a sport, but it seems that there are good marketing reasons for that. Teams that have been in this sport longer have more say in it, which is completely fair. ”

The question remains, however, why McLaren or Williams, the second oldest and most successful teams in Formula One history, do not enjoy such a prominent special status.
