Esteban Gutierrez has been confirmed at Ferrari for the 2015 season, where he will play the role of test and reserve racer after losing his seat at Sauber. The Mexican lost his seat at Sauber against Marcus Ericsson, but as said, he will now have the opportunity to work with the Scuderia Ferrari, where a much better future awaits him.
“I am very pleased to have received this incredible courage to work for Ferrari, which has welcomed me into its family,” said Gutierrez, who added: “This is the beginning of a new journey into the future. I would like to thank everyone for their support and for believing in me and in my potential. I will develop further and in the future I will show what kind of test I am from. ” Finally, team boss Maurizio Arrivabene said that Gutierrez will work mainly in the simulator, which is logical given the ban on testing: “We welcome Gutierrez, who comes from Mexico, where we have quite a few fans. We have opened a new path, as we did fifty years ago with the Rodriguez brothers. ”
