After the FIA decided not to re-examine the incident between Lewis Hamiton and Max Verstappn from Brazil, Toto Wolff spoke, believing that this opened the door to dirty racing.

In defending Hamilton’s attack, Verstappen drove too wide through the bend, and as a result, both racers had to drive off the track. The Dutchman explained that he braked very late and would probably spin due to worn tires if he wanted to stay on the track.

The commissioners assessed that it was not a controversial maneuver and did not take the incident under scrutiny, but later they filed a request for a re-inspection with Mercedes, which was rejected before the races in Qatar.

After the decision, some racers expressed the opinion that there is now confusion regarding driving ethics, which was not clarified even by the meeting of racers on Friday night. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff says the race management has now given the green light for maneuvers when a racer knocks another off the track.
“In my opinion, with their decision, they gave permission to throw yourself into a bend and push another car off the line, and this could lead to much dirtier racing in the future. We do not want confusion in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi, ”Wolff said.
