Lewis Hamilton won his first free practice for the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuki, and in the second, the Red Bull racers reigned supreme in the timetables.

Vettel overtook his teammate Mark Webber by 1 seconds in the afternoon training with a time of 33.852: 0.168, which he put on medium-hard tires. The third fastest was Nico Rosberg with a Mercedes.

We saw quite a few spins in both training sessions, and the most dramatic was perhaps the trip of Sergio Perez, who flew into the protective tires in the thirteenth turn.
