Daniil Kvyat thought of a special helmet painting for his home race in Russia, but his wish was rejected by the FIA. The Russian racer has already "used" this opportunity in Monza. The rules state that a racer may not change the color of his helmet during the season. The exception is one race, when it can do so anyway. Kvyat has already used this opportunity before his team's home race in Monza.

The policy reads as follows:

"In order to make it easier for racers on the track to differentiate between themselves, they are not allowed to change their paintings during the season, with the exception of one race of the racer's choice."

Kvyat was understandably very disappointed with this decision and described it as ridiculous.

“It’s a very nice helmet, I hope you’ve all seen it. Tomorrow I will put it in the garage for all to see. All this is very funny, but it is still necessary to follow the rules. These are the colors of the Russian flag, slightly different from the previous one, but still very simple. Maybe I'll even use it tomorrow. Otherwise, I don’t know what the consequences might be. To be honest, Formula 1 currently has a lot bigger problems that we should focus on than painting helmets. ”

He was also supported by teammate Pierre Gasly, who also disagrees with the ban.

"If that's true, I can only say it's a lot of shit." We have much bigger problems than changing the color of the helmet painting. ”
