The Sports Council of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) has approved a calendar of races for the 2019 season, which will include as many as 21 races, starting on March 17 and ending only on December 1.

New technical and sports rules have also been confirmed, which we have already reported and include:

  • a new position of the rear-view mirrors for better visibility behind the car
  • new position of TV transmission cameras to make the halo guard ring less annoying
  • lights will be added to the rear wings
  • the halo will be slightly modified to make it easier for the racer to exit

Changes in the field of sports:

  • after the completion of the safety car, the racers will only be able to start overtaking along the start-finish line (previously this was allowed after the first line of the safety car)
  • the teams will be responsible for the safety inspection of the cars
  • the end of the race will be marked by a checkered light signal next to the traditional checkered flag
  • in the 2020 season, the “curfew” in garages will be extended from eight to nine hours
