Ferrari at the top of the first training session

 

 

Felipe Massa set the best time of the first free practice before the Bahrain GP. With a time of 1: 34.487, which he put on the harder of the two mixtures, he was less than a tenth of a second faster than his Ferrari teammate, Fernando Alonso. Third was Nico Rosberg with a Mercedes.

The Brazilian faced difficulties in setting up the car in the coming laps on the Sakhir track, but bypassed them towards the end of the race and drove the fastest lap of the first 90-minute training. Rosberg drove out of the garage fairly late, followed by teammate Lewis Hamilton, who finished his first workout with the thirteenth fastest time. The German finished training in third place, 0.134 seconds behind Massa, and Sebastian Vettel with a red bull fell to fourth place and stayed there until the end. Mark Webber, in his second red bull, started his XNUMXth racing weekend in Formula One with seventh place.

In the first practice, Heikki Kovalainen, who recently accepted the role of reserve racer at Caterham, returned to the wheel of a Formula One car, at least temporarily.
