Ferrari boss Maurizio Arrivabene says it is too early to decide whether Kimi Raikkonen will stay on the Maranello team in the 2016 season. Finch's future is the subject of speculation this year.

Arrivabene believes he will have to recommend Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne later in the season for Raikkonen, but at the same time he believes it would be demotivating if they decided to extend the contract now, especially in the event of a non-renewal.

“A lot of things will have to be decided, but for now it is too early to say or decide anything, because we are not even halfway through the season. Imagine being in my role when it would be necessary to step up to Raikkonen and tell him that he is inside or that he has dropped out, ”Arrivabene said.

"We have internal hands, but I will not talk about them. I can present my point of view, and the final decision will be taken together with the President. This is how normal companies operate in a normal world. If you are president, you can do what you want, if you are not, you have to share your opinion and get approval. ”

The 2007 champion has two, all but successful, racing weekends behind him, but Arrivabene added that it won’t be about today or tomorrow, but they will be looking at the whole picture. They will make their decisions based on his relationship with the engineers, hard work, speed, performance…, and they will choose the right moment for both them and Raikkonen.
