Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali said that in Maranello they wanted to own the Pole Robert Kubica next to Fernando Alonso in the second race car.

Kubica was injured during a rally at the beginning of 2011, and since then the Pole has been striving to return to Formula One. Although he nearly lost his right arm in the accident, the injury healed well, but not completely.

The Pole himself admitted that he could now drive a Formula One car, but only on certain racetracks.

“We watched his progress,” Domenicali said of Kubica. "Unfortunately, we don't think he will be back in Formula One, as physical problems would hinder him in some situations."

Domenicali also touched on Felipe Massa, who after his accident in 2009 at the Hungaroring is said to have lost the form he had shown before. “From a medical point of view, there is no evidence that the accident at Felipe would have left any consequences, such as poorer vision or slower reflexes,” he explained. “But there’s also the issue of sensitivity, which made us have to give the racer, who wasn’t very lucky, a chance to prove he deserves to stay with us.

If Felipe couldn’t show the form we expected of him, it was due to hypersensitivity to a race car that had a very unstable rear end. But in 2008 I would almost become a champion and I personally consider him a world champion. ”

But why did Ferrari decide to replace him with Kimi Raikkonen next season? “We decided on Kimi because we wanted more. When we replaced him with Alonso, he was not exactly satisfied, so now he is returning to a strong desire for success, ”concluded Domenicali.
