Ferrari team boss Laurent Mekies will, as we reported, transfer to Red Bull's Alpha Tauri team, where he will take over the position of team boss, which is being vacated by Franz Tost.
The exchange will take place at the end of this season, and Mekies could join the Faenza team earlier. Alpha Tauri will also be strengthened with the former official of the FIA, Peter Bayer, who will coordinate cooperation between the team's factories in Italy and Great Britain in the future.
Franz Tost has led the team since 2006, when Red Bull bought the Minardi team and renamed it Toro Rosso. The Austrian experienced two victories under his leadership of the team, namely Sebastian Vettel in 2008, when the team was called Toro Rosso, and in 2020, when Pierre Gasly won as an Alpha Tauri racer. The team achieved both victories in Monza.
The team's form has started to decline in recent seasons, and Tost came under scrutiny when he recently stated that he no longer trusted the team's engineers, although the 67-year-old will remain in contact with the team in an advisory capacity.
