F1 has unveiled the race calendar for the 2023 season, which includes 24 tests, but despite expectations there is no race in South Africa, and the Chinese Grand Prix has also been given its place.

The season, which will be a record in terms of volume if all the races are held, will start in March in Bahrain and end in November in Abu Dhabi, and when creating the calendar, they took into account the date of the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans race, which will take place between 10 and June 11, between the F1 races for the Spanish Grand Prix and the Canadian Grand Prix.

"The 24 races on the 2023 championship calendar are further evidence of the growth and appeal of this sport worldwide," said FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

Some races have been given new dates, for example, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix is moving from the usual June location to April 30, and although they wanted to run the races regionally, some, especially in North America, are quite fragmented. The Miami GP will be held on May 7, the Canadian GP on June 18 and the US GP in Austin on October 22, so teams will still travel from Europe to some venues and then return to European soil for the next race. The Belgian GP is also on the calendar, but the date of the race has caused some consternation among endurance racing fans, as the 24-hour endurance race is also allocated the same date.

New to the calendar is Saturday's Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 18.
