F1 introduces an age limit for racers

After Max Verstappen becomes the youngest racer in the history of Formula One at the age of 17 next season, the FIE Sports Council has adopted a decision on the age limit for new racers. From the 2016 season onwards, the condition for obtaining a super license, which must be held by Formula One racers, age 18, and a valid driving test. Before being awarded a superlicense, candidates will have to pass a theoretical test of knowledge of the sports rules of Formula One.

An additional condition will be that the racers will have to compete in the lower categories for at least two seasons before competing in Formula One.

Next season, in the event of an accident, new rules and a new protocol called the "virtual safety car" will apply, which racers tested after the accident of Jules Bianchi in the last free practice of this season.

The Sports Council also confirmed the farewell of the double points, as well as the idea of ​​standing starts after the interruptions of the races.
