Andrea Dovizioso is returning after a 300-day break in MotoGP. It was originally planned to return in the 2022 season, but a web of circumstances brought a vacancy to the Petronas Yamaha SRT team, which the Italian could not miss.

For the past eight seasons, he has been a member of Ducati, where he has become a sort of icon of this team. However, his career has had a minor bitter aftertaste so far, as he has yet to win a MotoGP world title. Above all, this is at the expense of not competing in the period when Marc Marquez became the serial winner in MotoGP. In the 2017, 2018 and 2019 seasons, Dovi achieved second place in the overall standings. The Italian had already competed with Yamaha in one 2012 season before moving to Ducati.

“The competition is extremely high this season and everyone has similar times. In the last five races I will try to drive at all or nothing, and without pressure. I will need some time to adjust my riding style to the engine. It can’t be done overnight, but I’m happy to have five races before the start of next season. I don't have any goals for this season, it will only be important to catch the engine as much as possible. If I finish in the top ten, it will be a success for me for the first season of Yamaha. I am happy to be back in MotoGP with Petronas Yamaha and that the first race will be on home soil, ”said Andrea Dovizioso.
