Disappointed Quartararo: I expected more

Fabio Quartararo was a bit disappointed with his performance in today's qualifying. As he admitted, he expected much more than the final ninth place, but he couldn't find his way on the wet track.

Despite the second place in the rainy race in Indonesia, the current world champion has never been among the best racers in wet driving. Regardless, he was ranked among the top ten in the rainy Saturday free practice.

Today, however, he was far from fighting for the best starting position. His best time of 1.56.326 was 1,1 seconds worse than the fastest Marco Marquez.

"Disappointed, because I expected more," the Frenchman was clear after qualifying.

"In the first attempt I set a time of 1:56.7, but then there was no significant improvement until the end of the qualification. This is something that we do not fully understand. I'm a bit lost on this track after the wet. We were more than a second behind the best. That's a lot, not as bad as it was in the past, but not good enough.

The Frenchman will start tomorrow's race, which is supposed to take place in dry weather, between his two biggest rivals in the fight for the title of world champion. Aleix Espargaro placed sixth, while Francesco Bagnaia, somewhat surprisingly, only placed twelfth. At the moment, the points leader is most concerned about the fact that the main rivals on Ducati and Aprilia will have an easier job of overtaking their rivals compared to him.

"The biggest problem is that I don't know exactly where my opportunities for overtaking could be. We know that we don't have much chance of success on the plain. One of the few possibilities is the seventh turn, which is otherwise not an ideal place for this. Despite everything, I think we have a chance to achieve a good result."
