Klemen Gerčar won six new points in the MXGP race in Mantua. He finished 18th in both races, losing the 15th place in the second race due to a fall. However, the Slovenian motocross rider is not in a bad mood, as he is better from race to race.
The race for the Lombardy GP in Italy started less encouragingly for Klemen, as the organizer prepared a completely different track than Klemen is used to from training, so he lost a lot of time in free training due to incorrect settings and choice of tires. But quick action and changes to the motorcycle were already evident in the qualifiers, which he finished eighteenth.
On Sunday, he wasted a few places in the first run with a not-so-successful start, and even after that run, he made some changes to the suspension. "These proved to be good, as I advanced to 15th place in the second run, which is now generally better than the first. But just three laps before the end I made a mistake on one of the jumps, I wasn’t fast enough on that section and I fell on the landing, which took me quite some time before I picked up the motorcycle and was able to continue. That's why I finished this race as 18. With this, I won 6 new points this weekend, on the one hand I'm sorry for the better ranking, but on the other hand it seems that things are moving for the better, "said Klemen after the race. .
With this, he now shares 23th place in the overall standings with 30 points. His next test will also be in the MXGP class, namely in Assn in the Netherlands, where the organizer will prepare a track especially for this race in the area of the racetrack for motorcyclists. "I expect a hard race there as well, we don't know much about how the Dutch imagined this track, but I estimate that it will be sandy and quite demanding, just like it was in Mantua," Klemen added.
