Australian Daniel Ricciardo will join the Red Bull Racing team at the end of this season, where he will perform the role of third driver. Ricciardo confirmed in August this year that he was leaving McLaren, after which he failed to find a suitable team to race for in 2023. The eight-time grand prix winner, who previously (between 2014 and 2018) raced for Red Bull, is according to team advisor Helmut Marko, he has accepted an offer to become the team's third driver, and his goal is to return to the role of regular driver in the 2024 season.

The contract has not yet been signed, and Ricciardo is expected to become the team's representative, who will, among other things, be in charge of appearances at presentation events. "Ricciardo will be our third racer," said Marko in an interview with the German Sky. "We have a lot of sponsors, so we have to be active in the field of presentation events and Daniel is the best suited for such a job."

Ricciardo cannot expect appearances as a reserve driver, as this role will be taken over by Liam Lawson, who will compete in Super Formula after next season and, if necessary, replace drivers in Red Bull or their other team, Alpha Taura.
