In the first race of this season, racing doctor Valentino Rossi proved once again that he is not yet "retired". Despite a poor start to the race, in the second half he started to set record times and started to overtake his rivals as if for a bet. In the end, he was only behind the current world champion and teammate Jorge Lorenzo.

Valentino Rossi started the race for the Qatar Grand Prix from the seventh starting place and thus broke through to the fifth place. He made two minor mistakes in the first rounds and then went on the hunt for the leaders. Meanwhile, he also overtook Briton Cal Crutchlow, who made a minor mistake and drove off the track. In the end, there was an exciting fight with the talented newcomer Marco Marquez, in which the latter lost.

“Valentino was amazing. After a long time, he raced again the way he knows how. He caught me, Dani and Marca incredibly fast, "Crutchlow praised Rossi and continued:" There was no way I could overtake Honda. The motorcycle just wasn’t fast enough, which was very familiar at the end of a long plane. I’m a little disappointed, but I’m happy with fifth place. I’m a little worried about the upcoming race in Texas. Yamaha, Honda and the Honda satellite team opted for private testing in Austin, but we didn't. ”
