Citroen announced that it had terminated its cooperation with Kris Meek due to a large number of accidents. Meeke flew off the track in Portugal last weekend and completely destroyed his Citroen, and he was taken by helicopter to the hospital for an examination.
“It was not an easy decision as it affects the racer and co-driver, but it is a decision based on safety concerns,” said Citroen team boss Pierre Budar. "So we decided to prevent any injuries."
In a press statement, Citroen wrote that some of Meek's accidents could have serious consequences in terms of the safety of team members, and his risky driving was not justified with high stakes. Who will sit in Meek’s race car is not yet known.
