Changing tires is not fair

At Lotus, they think changing this year’s tires just because some teams are complaining is unfair. Kimi Raikkonen drove the race at the Spanish Grand Prix with a stop less and still finished in second place, bringing leader Sebastian Vettl to just four points overall. This is a good example of the fact that Lotus ’E21 race car is more tire-friendly, and Eric Boullier acknowledged that the announced tire changes may have a negative impact on the form of the Enston team. “I don’t think it’s fair, but we’re going to have to deal with it, as always,” he said. "We all have the same tires."

Boullier is of the opinion that the complaints about the tires are focused on the wrong area. His personal belief is that some teams simply did not cope well enough with the given circumstances. “Some should ask a different question. The issue is not the tires, as we have done something, for example, that makes the tires on our race car last longer. It is the same for everyone. Already in Spain, they have changed the hard mix to accommodate most of the teams complaining, ”said Boullier, who was confident that at Pirelli they would not indulge in further tire changes. "We challenged them to make tires that can withstand 20 laps, and from our point of view, they succeeded."
