Like Marussia, Caterham also has financial problems. The latter is for sale, even though it is already sold. The complication with Tony Fernandes is that not all the conditions stated in the sales contract are met. Bankruptcy trustee Engavest SA, on the other hand, says they paid all the agreed amounts from the contract. All this means that the case is moving to court, which will take quite some time and in the meantime at least the race in Austin will be over.
Unlike Marussia, however, rpi were given permission to Caterham not to compete in the next two races. So Bernie: “Let’s take two races free to solve financial problems.” Everyone on the team wants a new owner to appear soon to start the team, as they are ready to race and as a well-coordinated team so suitable for any potential investor . The question is how far it will go, as many teams are practically on the brink of survival, so in Austin there will very likely be only 18 race cars at the start.
