Simone Faggioli justified the role of the biggest favorite to win the mountain speed race in Ilirska Bistrica, where he improved the track record twice today and quite deservedly celebrated the overall, his fifth, victory in this race. The Italian set a new milestone with the prototype Osella FA30 2: 00.57, and on the way to victory he was driven by a compatriot in the same car, Christiano Merli. After the last run, he was 1.37 seconds behind the winner, despite excellent times. The dominance of the Italians was confirmed by the third place of Paride Macario with Norma M20FC. Czech Miloš Beneš was fourth with Osella FA30 at the end. Among Slovenian participants, the fastest in the overall ranking was Patrik Zajelšnik, who took fifth place, his brother Aleks (both with the prototype Norma M20F) took eleventh place.

On the 3900-meter-long route from Todraž to Lučin, where an international mountain-speed race took place last weekend, Rok Turk, who has mostly competed in rallies in recent seasons, also competed in seconds in front of many spectators. But since this is the home race of the OPV Racing Cars team, for the second year in a row, they decided to present themselves to the fans with the Peugeot 208 R2 rally car at the mountain speed race. And the response was more than excellent - mass cheering and encouragement along the track, well-attended service area and at the finish also 3rd place in Division 3. In a relaxed atmosphere and among the home fans, Rok of course felt great: "It's always a pleasure to perform at such races and the track itself with its complexity I really like! Vaclav Janik and Federico Liber staged an excellent duel for many spectators in Lučine for a joint victory, while improving the record of the route from Todraž to Lučine three times. In the first run, a new record was set by Liber, who stopped the stopwatches at 2: 01.90. Janik was 0.8 seconds behind his time, and in the second run it was even closer between them, except that Janik set the fastest time. The Czech was seven hundredths of a second better than Liber's time, and the Italian drove half a second slower this time. In the decisive third run, the moody Janik drove even faster and set the measuring bar for 2: 01.30 for next season. His average speed was almost 119km / h, but because Liber drove 0.8 seconds slower this time, Janik celebrated the overall victory with a 0.53 second advantage

There are 80 drivers on tomorrow's race starting list. If in the first run the drivers flirted even more shyly with the track, in the second they were more confident and achieved faster results, and in the third the Swiss Ronnie Bratschi surpassed himself again, breaking his own (last year's) track record between touring vehicles. In the absolute competition, we will obviously see a fierce battle for victory between the Czech Vaclav Janik and the Italian Federico Liber tomorrow. Among the Slovenes, Vladimir Stankovič proved to be the best in the first and second training sessions, but resigned in the third. The hero of today's training is the Swiss Ronnie Bratschi, who already managed to break his (last year's set) track record. Last year he crossed the track with a time of 2: 13.55, and this year a few tenths faster, as he finished at the finish

Milan Bubnič started this year's season of mountain speed races with a sovereign victory in Stubičke Toplice, Croatia. With the Lancia Delta Integrale, he finished the race only behind the Hungarian with a Croatian license, Istvan Kavecz (BMW E90). In the second run, Bubnič drove more than three and a half seconds faster than Kavecz, but he ran a little less than a second and a half to win. The second fastest Slovenian was Matej Grudnik with the new Renault Clio, who was fourth in the overall standings. Third place went to Peter Marc. In Division I we saw quite a few resignations, and consequently only the winner Aleš Žakelj with Zastava Yugo and Primož Tavčar led to the finish line. The victory in Division II went to Tilno Pogačar in just 0.02 seconds, who managed to overtake Matevž Čudn in the second run. The third was Prim

In Žire, a small town at the end of the Poljanska valley, in a small private garage, Marko Mlakar is constantly diligently upgrading his racing VW Golf II, with which he competes in mountain speed racing. Instead of a sequential gearbox, Marko installed a system in the Golf, which, despite the "classic" H-gearbox, allows quick gear changes by pulling the steering wheel lever. The system leaves a deep impression on many people, as it is used by the legend during mountain races, Felix Pailer, for example in his Lancia Delta. The MME Motorsport electro-pneumatic system changes gears in just 0,08 seconds. You can see the operation in the video below, and you may meet the Golf and its creator in one of the mountain speed races this year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PLVy
