Carlos Sainz ended Max Verstappen's 1-race winning streak in a thrilling FXNUMX Singapore Grand Prix. The Dutchman recorded his worst race weekend of the season, starting from eleventh to finish fifth in the no-overtaking street race, a consolation prize for the two-time world champion after a mishap with the safety car even dropped to fifteenth place in part of the race.
In the final laps of the race, which was interrupted once by the safety car and once again by the virtual safety car, Sainz successfully fought off the attacks of the British, George Russell (Mercedes), Lando Norris (McLaren) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), and celebrated his second victory in Formula One, after the 2022 British GP.
Russell made a mistake in the last lap while chasing Sainz and crashed into the protective wall, leaving Norris and Hamilton on the podium.
Charles Leclerc had some bad luck at his stop when he had to wait for a clear pit lane at the tire change point, in the end the Monaco native had to settle for fourth place. Pierre Gasly (Alpine) was sixth ahead of Oscar Piastri (McLaren), Sergio Perez in the other Red Bull car finished eighth, and rookie Liam Lawson (Alpha Tauri) impressed again, finishing the race in ninth place and winning first points in Formula One. Kevin Magnussen (Haas) won the last point with tenth place.
