Williams is looking for a McLaren advantage

The Williams F1 team takes care of the advantage of the McLaren team, Sunday's race at Suzuki. They’re looking for reasons why Jenson Button’s race car was so much faster on this soggy track. Recall, Williams drivers Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa finished third and fourth in qualifying, and sixth and seventh in Sunday's race when the track was wet, behind Button's McLarn, who landed in fifth. Williams has been less productive on the wet track since the start of this year's race, so the loss to Red Bull was no surprise, but McLaren's dominance will be scrutinized.

“Red Bull was much faster than us, they also had a lot more grip. If you put us in street races like Monaco and Singapore, they are simply much faster than us as they have such a race car set up. On the other hand, McLaren's play was disheartening. My original goal is to find out what they did and how they managed to be so much faster than us. ” said Williams boss Rob Smedley.

“It’s certainly not the same problem we had in Malaysia. Back then, the problem was getting enough heat into the tires and we probably didn’t know exactly how to fix this. We know this now and we are doing it very well. We may have had a little too high tire temperature at the Japan Grand Prix, but it's not such a deficit that the Red Bull team would outplay us so much. ” he added.
