Biaggi: Marquez is not yet at the peak of his form

Despite winning his fourth MotoGP world title, Marc Marquez has yet to show it all, according to former Italian racer Max Biaggi. The Spaniard, in his opinion, will drive even better in the coming years.

Marquez managed to beat Andrea Dovizioso in this year’s title fight, winning the fourth crown of the championship in his fifth season in the royal class of the World Motorcycle Championship. At just 24 years old, he became the youngest four-time top-class champion, improving by one year the record held by Valentino Rossi, who won his fourth laurels at 25 years old.

Biaggi, who was 25 years old when he first appeared in MotoGP, is so confident that Marquez will be able to show even more in the coming years as he matures and gains additional experience.

“Marquez is a world champion because he is the best racer,” Biaggi told Italian Motosprint. “Just look at what he won at just 24 years old. The most interesting thing is that, in my opinion, he has not yet reached his highest level, so I think he will only show his best. ”

As Marquez's contract with Honda expires at the end of next season, there is already a lot of speculation that the Spaniard will be tested on a motorcycle from another manufacturer. At the same time, Biaggi is convinced that the young Spaniard would become a champion this year even if he raced with a Ducati, as the top three motorcycles are now fairly even.

“Today, the best three or four racers are separated by only a few tenths, so I think all motorcycles are fairly even. I think he would become a world champion on any other motorcycle, ”the Italian is convinced. “I would definitely win with Ducati as well. You can’t stay indifferent when you see what Marquez is doing on a motorcycle. When he slips, you are left speechless, or when he almost falls, he is saved anyway. This is not just about luck, but about his ability to control the engine. Only he is capable of that, ”adds the four-time world champion of the 250cc class and the World Superbike Championship.
