Baumschlager leads, Asja an excellent eleventh

After the first day of the Rebenland rally, the fastest Austrian Raimund Baumschlager with the Škoda Fabia S2000 is the fastest in the overall standings. The EVO IX R4 has a 16.1-second advantage over second-placed compatriot Bepp Harrach in a Mitsubishi Lanver. Third is Gerwald Grossing in another Lancer, which is a good 38 seconds behind the leading Baumschlager.

The Rebenland Rally was also attended by Slovenian racers. The best was Asja Zupanc with co-driver Blanka Kacin. With the Mitsubishi Lancer, the Slovenians finished the EVO IX day in eleventh place, and in the total sum of times they are three minutes and twenty seconds short of leading. Alan Pajk and Jaka Cevc in the Citroen C2 R2 Max are in fourteenth place after five stages, and Matej Grudnik and Florjan Rus are breathing down their necks in the Renault Twingo R2, which is exactly seven seconds behind them before the final day.

Eight more speed trials await the racers tomorrow. The start of the first will be at 8:20.
