Enea Bastianini celebrated a surprising victory in the opening race of the 2022 MotoGP season, and the Italian now wants to cash in on good form from tests in Indonesia at the Gresini Racing half-factory Ducati and become the first non-factory winner of two consecutive races at various Marc Melandri races in 2005.
Bastianini set the thirteenth time in the tests at the Mandalika racetrack, but with last year's GP21 motorcycle he drove only half a second slower than the Honda racer Pol Espargaro. The young Italian therefore believes that, similar to the Lusail racetrack, he can reach the highest places with the right choice of tires and smart driving.
“We are coming to Indonesia after an amazing race in Qatar, where I achieved my first victory in MotoGP. It will be difficult to win this time, but we showed good form in the tests. ”
The track was overlaid after testing in some parts. “Therefore, we do not know what awaits us, and we have different tires available than in the tests. I expect a lot of spectators and fans of the team Gresini Racing. ”
