Ducati rider Enea Bastianini hopes to return to the MotoGP paddock in Austin after doctors confirmed that surgery on a broken shoulder blade will be necessary.

The Italian was injured in the first MotoGP sprint race in Portugal, where he fell thanks to Luca Marini. The injury will see him miss this weekend's race in Argentina, but he hopes the injury will be sufficiently healed to allow him to compete in the third race of the year, the US GP. He will come back with rehabilitation on Monday.
