Enea Bastianini is the winner of a duel with Francesco Bagnaio in the Aragon Grand Prix, which saw Fabio Quartararo collide with Marco Marquez, after which the Frenchman retired after losing important points in the championship. Aleix Espargaro was third ahead of Brad Binder and Jack Miller in fifth.

The race started with Marquez moving from thirteenth to sixth as the Spaniard overtook Quartararo in the first corner, but a rear tire momentarily slipped in the third corner, surprising the Frenchman on a Yamaha, who crashed into the rear of the Honda.

The championship points leader fell, and his motorcycle rolled over him, but fortunately he was not injured, although he later fell again with his scooter while returning to the pits with one of the marshals.

After the collision, part of Quartararo's Yamaha became lodged in Marquez's engine, causing a tire lock-up when the Spaniard activated the height control system on the exit of turn seven. This triggered another collision, this time LCR Honda racer Takaaki Nakagami crashed into Marquez's bike, who also had to retire, and Marquez went into the garage at the end of the lap, where he ended the race. Nakagami suffered cuts on the fingers of his right hand in the fall.

In the absence of a rival for the title, Bagnaia this time had to concede superiority to Bastianini, and thus converted his best starting position into second place and reduced the gap in the championship standings to only 10 points.
