After the race, Francesco Bagnaia strongly condemned the decision to hold a Moto GP class race. For him, this was after the death of Jason Dupasquier completely unacceptable. The young Swiss racer succumbed to his injuries in Saturday's qualifiers, and FIM released the official news of his death just before the Moto 2 class race.
The Ducati racer, who was seriously considering skipping the race after the news was published, then ended it with a fall in the second lap.
"If it was difficult for all of us yesterday, it was practically impossible today. I started the race well, took the lead in the first lap, and then fell. Either way, I would finish first or last today it wouldn’t matter. We found out about the death just before the Moto 2 racers started. From that moment on, I couldn't focus on the race in front of me. ”
“Today could be described as the worst in life. I wanted and asked not to race today as the decision to race was not the right one for me. If this happened to a racer in the Moto GP class, they certainly wouldn’t be racing. I am very disappointed with the one who allowed us to race. ”
“I don’t even think about my fall and being left without points. That doesn't matter today. I only think about him and his family. ”
Opinions among the racers as to whether the decision to run the race was correct were otherwise very divided. Fabio Quartararo and Miguel Oliveira were of the opinion at the press conference after the race that the decision to race was the right one, as they were able to pay their respects to their deceased racing colleague in the best possible way.
