Bagnaia and Miller at the helm of Ducati's dominance in Germany

Ducati factory racers Francesco Bagnaia and Jack Miller were the fastest in Friday's free practice. The Australian was the fastest in the first, and the Italian in the afternoon, where as many as five Ducati racers were ranked in the top six.

Bagnaia, who was the second fastest in the first practice, set a new lap record in the afternoon, and after 45 minutes, Luca Marina came closest to his time. Miller, who is moving to KTM at the end of the season, was third ahead of Aleix Espargaro and Johann Zarc.

Jorge Martin was sixth ahead of reigning world champion Fabio Quartararo, who was again Yamaha’s top-ranked racer. Eighth was Maverick Vinales and ninth was Fabio Di Giannantonio. Tenth and eleventh place went to Suzuki racer Joan Mir, who was tenth and has secured entry into the faster qualifying group after Friday's practice, and Alex Rins.
