The first autoslalom of this year is being prepared this Sunday at the car range on Ljubečna. Among the cones, as many as 90 competitors will be tested in the skill race, as many as have already registered with pre-registrations. The organizers from AMD Šempeter expect a few more, as they will also accept applications on the day of the competition. Dragan Gajič will try to defend his victory last year. At the start, visitors will also see the best car slalom drivers in Austria, among them Patrick Mayer, last year’s champion in his class at the Slalom Race Cup. In addition to the attractive rides of the competitors, the electric vehicle Dacia Sandero of the students of the Secondary School for Service Activities and Logistics at the Celje School Center will certainly attract attention. During the break, they will take care of demonstration rides around the polygon, and will allow spectators to ride with them.
The fact that car slaloms are hard to expect among Slovenian drivers is proven by the mass participation of drivers from all over Slovenia, who are joined by colleagues from abroad. If we count according to the number of registered Slovenian drivers, car slaloms on Ljubečna (and also on Ivarčko Lake) are considered to be the busiest car racing events in our country.
As “everyday” drivers with a valid driver's license and a technically sound vehicle can also enter the competition, autoslalom is considered one of the cheapest motor sports. “The essence of such competitions is that we try to enable drivers to safely release adrenaline on the secured track. In this way, they test their driving skills, and we also make them aware of the importance of safe driving in road traffic in general, ”said AMD President Šempeter. Saša Friedrich.
At Ljubečna, the new cones will be slightly refreshed this year as well, which will be a real challenge for drivers. Registration and verification of competitors will take place until 7.30 am, and the competition will start at 8.30 am, and awards will be presented at 18 pm.
