Audi RS7 will race without a driver!

Audi is planning a very special venture on October 19th. On the racetrack in Hockenheim, they will drive a few race laps with their RS7, but there will be no one in the car behind the wheel.

The venture is expected to demonstrate the reliable operation of their automatic car driving system. They are supposed to prove that a computer is capable of driving a track not only without driving off the track, but almost as fast as a professional driver behind the wheel would do.

Audi has already tested the system at the Hockenheimring, and the computer took a lap in just over two minutes, according to Audi.

The automotive industry is increasingly leaning towards autonomous vehicles, so Audi’s venture opens up opportunities for a whole new industry of competition between manufacturers, sometime in the future, of course.
