Alonso with a VW F1?

After the departure of Fernando Alonso from Ferrari, there was talk of his possible return to Formula One through the Volkswagen team. VW has been very successful in the Le Mans series for over 15 years, but there is also a lot of talk about the Formula One project. Rumors and news from Volkswagen say they are preparing to enter F1, as they are also expected to cut budgets in the WEC and DTM.

Otherwise, rumors say that Domenicali will be in Volkswagen together with Alonso. Of course, that doesn’t mean Alonso isn’t negotiating with McLarn, as he would otherwise have to stay one season on the dock, but he should still drive at least Le Mans before returning in the 2016 season.

Audi, as part of the VW Group, hired Domenicali some time ago when he left Ferrari, even though Stefano has no experience at Le Mans. Audi was already present in Formula One, or in its predecessor, as Auto Union. In 1936, Atuo Union also won the European Championships, but they never competed in Formula One as we know it today. The 75-year-old rivals Audi and Mercedes could thus once again put themselves in the queen of motorsport. But maybe 2016 will be a fight for the Titans. However, if Ferrari develops another LMP1 program, this would mean a soft motto of the sport.
