Fernando Alonso said Sebastian Vettel has to prove himself in a race car that isn’t as good as Red Bull for the last five seasons if he wants to go down in history as a legend.
The German won his fourth consecutive championship title this year and garnered numerous praises from both fans and rivals for his dominant performances. But Alonso still doesn’t consider him a legend, as he believes that despite an impressive victory with unrivaled Toro Ross in the wet Monza in 2008, he has yet to prove himself in his career with a bad race car.
"Only time will tell how big he is, but I think that if he wins with a car like the rest of us, he will become a Formula One legend," said the Spaniard.
"But if the average car is barely fourth, fifth or seventh, these four titles will not carry much weight among spectators," the two-time world champion is convinced.
