Fernando Alonso joked that next season he will ask the FIO to take over the starting number 33, which was otherwise chosen by Max Verstappen. The Dutchman, the world champion for the last two seasons, uses the number 1, and it seems that it will be available to him next season as well. "If Max continues to use the No. 1, I have to see if I can get the No. 33," joked the Aston Martin driver, who could take his 33rd career victory this year.

The chances of a 33rd win, however, ignited a new trend among Spanish fans who, according to Alonso, fell in love with F1 again.

"It's crazy to see that Spain is now excited about Formula 1 again. It's definitely nice to see and I hope they enjoyed these two races when I got the podium," Alonso said. "33, I don't know exactly what is happening on social networks. Three years ago “El Plan” was popular, then #The Mission” and now “33”, so there are a lot of thirty-threes everywhere. All football clubs, or football players, tennis players, all somehow use 33, so I hope to achieve this number and win, then we will start hunting for 34."

This year's rival Verstappen would also treat Alonso to new victories. "Fernando should already have won more races than he has," said the Red Bull driver. "I think he deserves a lot more of them. I would be happy if he reached 33, but in a way I would treat him to a few more.”
