Fernando Alonso has said that Lewis Hamilton has always had certain weaknesses, which we did not see while he was sitting in a dominant car. He also said about the Briton that he is obviously getting old, as he has a short memory.

Alonso has finished on the podium in both races this year, while Hamilton has gone more than 480 days without a win, the longest streak of his career. Asked by journalists about Hamilton, Alonso replied that his former teammate has weaknesses that are visible now that he does not have the best racing car. "When he drives a normal racing car, you can see that he has weaknesses," said Alonso, 41. "Previously, he drove far ahead of everyone, or together with a teammate. But look, he holds the record for the most pole positions won, and this year his team-mate beat him both times in qualifying. He didn't suddenly forget how to drive. This is a testament to the fact how big a factor the racing car is. If you want to become world champion, you need a dominant car like Lewis had."

The Aston Martin driver also disagrees with Hamilton's statements regarding Red Bull's racing car. The seven-time world champion said that he had never seen such a fast racing car. "I don't agree with that at all. Last week I finished the race 20 seconds behind Perez and Max. In the 2014 and 2015 seasons, Lewis and Nico Rosberg won by a minute, despite reducing their engine power after a few fast laps. Lewis has a short memory, he's obviously getting old."
