Aljoša Novak and Matej Čar ran out of only 2,1 seconds for the first victory in the joint classification of the Slovenian national championship in Ajdovščina. Aljoša rated the rally as a career race and announced that he would chase his first victory again at the next rally.

After the accident at the inaugural rally of the Slovenian national championship in Velenje, Aljoša Novak and Matej Čar (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO9) started the Vipava Valley rally a little more carefully, but already at the third speed test they set the best time and announced the fight for the top. In the continuation, Aljoša won two more speed trials and after the eighth of ten speed trials he even took the lead in the overall classification. The last nine kilometers in Veliki Žablje were decisive, but Aljoša slipped to the final second place and sincerely congratulated the winner Aleks Humar at the finish. Their showdown for every available second on the slippery bends in the vicinity of Ajdovščina and Vipava was above all an excellent advertisement for the rally and the best traveler for the continuation of the season.

“Congratulations to Humar, who had to drive really well in the end. I really did my best, I didn't have a second to spare. It was probably the best race of my career. The most important thing is that the car is intact and that with such a good ride I also caught a good rhythm of racing on the asphalt. Now I hope that next time the victory will be mine, "said Aljoša after the rally.
The Slovenian national rally championship continues in Železniki in July.
