Aljoša Novak and his co-driver Matej Čar had a great start to this year's season with the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO9 in Italy. At the Ronda Valtiberina Rally, they won in their N4 class and were fifth overall fastest.

Before the first performance of this season, the Slovenian crew did not have high expectations, as they set out on the macadam in Italian Tuscany mainly to grind the winter rust and prepare for future performances. But despite the difficult conditions, the Italian rallies drove excellently and after four speed trials in a total length of 56 kilometers, overtook several more powerful race cars and took the fifth place overall. In doing so, they won convincingly in their N4 class.

"Behind me is one of the most beautiful, but also very demanding races," concluded Aljoša, who was driving a rented Mitsubishi from the workshop of the national rally champion Darko Peljhan.

“The first part of the speed test was fast, it took place on a beautiful and wide macadam road, and the second half was the complete opposite. There we barely got to third gear. As the weather was bad, the road there was also in much worse condition due to rain and mud. I am of course very happy with the ride, as well as with the result. On the first HP, I caught up with a slower competitor, but on the third, the rear differential failed. I may have lost half a minute of time, but that didn’t affect the end result. This performance is definitely a good prospect for the continuation of the season. ”
