At the end of the week, this year's national rally championship starts in Velenje, where Aljoša Novak and his co-driver Matej Čar are among the most serious candidates for the top spot. The basic task of the season will be to finish the races, and the silent wish remains the first victory in the overall standings.

This year, Aljoša Novak and Matej Čar have already had several excellent rallies on macadam in Italy, where they have already driven a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO9 from the workshop of national champion Darko Peljhan. Aljoša does not expect any major problems at the start of the national championship, when he will have to get used to the asphalt. Namely, it is more demanding to move in the opposite direction, ie from asphalt to macadam.

“Last year we had a lot of luck, so I would like to finish the races this year. Last year, he and Matej started with the best time in the first speed test, and then everything went downhill. This year we are hoping for a better package and simply a better season. The silent wish remains the first victory in the overall classification, ”says Aljoša, who is already waiting for the 150-kilometer rally in Velenje on Friday and Saturday. There will be 11 speed trials on the schedule, five of which on Friday.

“I am glad that the first rally is already long and that we will be able to ride well. Last year, my car failed before the first speed test, so I know the route of the rally only a little more generally and not in detail. I definitely don’t expect major problems getting to know the route. The competition in the national championship will obviously be very strong and numerous this year, and the actual circle of favorites will be formed after the first two rallies, ”says Aljoša.
